One app to find, brew and keep track of coffee, with an assistant that learns your taste.
A studio venture: a personal brewing companion for specialty coffee. Mojo, its Claude-powered assistant, reads a coffee bag from a photo, builds brew recipes tuned to your gear and taste, finds cafés near you and learns from every brew you rate. In private preview as a web app.

The challenge
Specialty coffee keeps growing, but most drinkers brew their €25-a-kilo beans into mediocre cups. The apps that exist are built for baristas or for social sharing, and none of them coach the ordinary enthusiast through getting better. Coffee lovers end up with two or three apps to find, brew and keep track of what they drink.
It started as a passion project, out of plain enthusiasm for coffee and its culture. We wanted one app that covers all of it.
The approach
Photograph any coffee bag and Mojo returns a brew recipe tuned to your gear, your taste and the roast profile, then logs the result and adjusts. Onboarding is five quick questions that end on a Taste ID, a taste profile that sharpens with every brew you rate. The assistant is built on Claude, with tool calling and retrieval over Dosemojo’s own data: your gear, your stash, your brews and a catalogue of beans kept current from roasters’ own shops.
The onboarding was rebuilt twice, in August and September, to end on a Taste ID instead of a starter recipe.
- 01
Tell Mojo your taste
Five quick questions, and you get your Taste ID.
- 02
Scan the bag
Photograph it, and Mojo reads the origin and notes, then suggests a recipe.
- 03
Brew, rate, repeat
Log the cup, and Mojo uses it for your next recipe.
What we learned
The models already know coffee science, so feeding them textbooks added nothing. What helps is what only Dosemojo has: your gear, your stash, your brews and a catalogue we keep current.
The work

The results
Mojo is live for a private preview: the assistant, onboarding that ends on a Taste ID, 14 gear tables and 332 beans from roasters’ own shops. The Taste ID onboarding shipped in October, and the first completed profiles are the next signal. The next step is covering the Spanish specialty catalogue, then opening the preview. There are no usage numbers yet, so none are claimed.
