Berlitz India · 2024

Self-serve course sales, live in six weeks, and the sales team off quote-writing.

Berlitz India had no way to sell courses online. We designed and built a complete self-serve ecommerce platform with Stripe India, Snipcart and a Salesforce STAR integration, and launched it in six weeks. It sold from the first week.

The challenge

Every course purchase at Berlitz India went through a person. A conversation with a rep, then a quote, then a manual invoice. Someone who already knew what they wanted had no way to just buy it, so the business lost every sale that happened at night or over a weekend.

Six weeks to fix it, no infrastructure changes, and it had to write into their existing Salesforce STAR CRM.

The approach

Webflow for the front end, so the marketing team could own product pages without booking engineering time. Snipcart on top as the cart layer, which gave us a JavaScript API we could bend instead of building checkout from nothing.

Payments were the hard part. Stripe India runs on different rules from Stripe global: GST collection, INR settlement, local bank requirements. We built a checkout flow that handled tax, raised the GST invoice and created the Salesforce lead in one webhook chain, so every purchase arrived in the CRM already assigned to a rep.

Subscriptions came next. Monthly instalments, automatic cancellation on a failed payment, and an upgrade path from a single course to a full programme.

  1. 01

    Architecture + data model

Product taxonomy, pricing logic, subscription tiers, GST rates. Two days of whiteboarding before a line of code.

  2. 02

    Webflow build

CMS-driven product pages, course detail templates, checkout redirect. Marketing team trained to add products independently.

  3. 03

    Payment + tax layer

Stripe India onboarding (4 days, harder than expected), GST calculation logic, INR → USD reporting for finance.

  4. 04

    Salesforce integration

Webhook chain: purchase confirmed → Salesforce lead created → rep assigned → welcome email triggered. Fully automated.

  5. 05

    QA + soft launch

End-to-end purchase test with real cards. GST invoice validation. CRM record verification. Staged rollout to 10% of traffic first.

03

The results

Live on schedule. From the first week, buyers who used to email sales and wait days bought on their own.

By the end of the first quarter the checkout completed at 94%, the sales team had stopped writing quotes and moved on to enterprise deals, and the store kept selling overnight.
