Sansless · 2026
A shop for typefaces, where the typeface is the entire shopfront.
The website and store for Sansless, an independent type foundry. Four typefaces, a specimen page each, and a cart, on a 290KB homepage.

The challenge
A foundry sells the thing the site is built out of. Any decoration competes with the product, and a slow page is worse here than almost anywhere else, because a typeface that arrives late arrives as a fallback face.
The approach
The homepage is a specimen and nothing else. One face at a time, set enormous, over a ground that changes with it, and a strip along the bottom to move between them. Chrome is reduced to three icons.
Each typeface then gets its own page to be read properly at every size and weight, with the buy action attached to the specimen rather than parked on a separate pricing page.
The work

The results
Four typefaces are live with a specimen page each: Nyman, Bardi Sans, Kozma and Frustro.
Measured on a mobile profile in September 2026, the homepage renders its largest element in 0.28 seconds and weighs about 290KB, which is roughly a third of what the Berlitz UK course pages carry.
